Gleneagles League Rules and Regulations
1. Definitions and Scope
1.1 This document constitutes the official Rules and Regulations governing all Gleneagles Leagues operated at The Links of Gleneagles.
1.2 These rules apply to: Monday/Thursday League, Duos League, and Ladies Night, unless otherwise stated.
2. League Structure
2.1 The Monday/Thursday League consists of twelve (12) teams, each comprised of twelve (12) players competing weekly against the field.
2.2 The Duos League consists of two‑person teams competing in Best Ball format every Tuesday afternoon.
2.3 Ladies Night is a casual recreational league held Wednesday evenings and operates under simplified play guidelines.
3. Format of Play – Monday/Thursday League
3.1 All players shall play their own ball in a stroke play format.
3.2 Each week, the following scores shall constitute a team’s official score:
(a) The two (2) lowest gross scores; and
(b) The four (4) lowest net scores.
3.3 Points shall be awarded based on team performance against the full field.
3.4 A minimum of six (6) participating players is required. Failure to meet this threshold results in a forfeit; however, individual prize eligibility remains unaffected.
4. Format of Play – Duos League
4.1 Teams shall consist of two (2) players.
4.2 The scoring format shall be Best Ball – Gross and Net:
(a) Each player plays their own ball for all holes.
(b) The lowest gross score on each hole shall be recorded; and
(c) The lowest net score on each hole shall be recorded.
4.3 Weekly points contribute to year‑long cumulative standings.
5. Format of Play – Ladies Night
5.1 Ladies Night is a non‑competitive, recreational league.
5.2 Players shall adhere to the following play expectations:
(a) Play Ready Golf – when it is your turn be ready to shoot!
(b) Maintain appropriate pace of play and remain with the group ahead.
(c) Concede gimmies where appropriate.
(d) Avoid multiple tee shots.
(e) Improve lies where necessary.
(f) Concede holes where enjoyment is diminished.
5.3 Themed dress is encouraged on designated nights.
6. Handicaps
6.1 League handicaps shall be maintained using the established handicap system.
6.2 Handicaps shall be updated weekly.
6.3 Players must submit all completed league rounds to be eligible for handicap adjustments.
7. Schedule and Tee Times
7.1 League play shall occur on the designated day for each league.
7.2 Tee times shall be assigned and communicated weekly.
8. Scoring and Submission
8.1 Scores must be submitted to the Pro Shop upon completion of nine (9) holes.
8.2 Submitted scores shall be tabulated and published on the league website.
9. Substitutions and Absences
9.1 Substitutes may be used as required, subject to possessing a valid handicap recognized by the league.
9.2 If no team member or substitute is available, the team shall record a forfeit.
10. League Points and Standings
10.1 Weekly points shall be awarded in accordance with league scoring procedures.
10.2 Standings will be posted weekly.
10.3 Ties shall be broken using the lowest team net score on the final hole, and if still tied, preceding holes in reverse sequence.
11. Pace of Play
11.1 All players must maintain proper pace of play.
11.2 Groups failing to maintain pace may be instructed to advance to restore flow.
12. Rules of Golf
12.1 The official Rules of Golf, as published by Golf Canada, shall govern all play unless modified by local rules.

12.2 All player shall play from “blue” tees unless you are appointed tees based on your handicap by the Rules Committee.
5.2 All rounds shall be played under Summer Rules (Play the Ball as it Lies).
5.3 Gimmes are permitted TO BE GIVEN inside a standard 34-inch putter length from the hole. Rules may vary during playoffs.
5.3.1 Gimmies are NOT permitted when putting for a “deuce” (2)
5.4 Designated DROP AREAS shall be used on par 3 holes only. A ball may be placed within two club lengths, no closer to the hole.
5.5 The maximum score on any hole during regular season play is four (4) over par. A player may pick up and record a score of four over par.
5.6 LOST BALL OUT OF THE PROPERTY OR IN A YARD:
Option 1: Place the ball and re-hit from approximately the same spot as your last shot. (ADD 2 SHOTS)
Option 2: Place the ball in the fairway at approximately the full distance the ball traveled. (ADD 2 SHOTS)
5.6.1 LOST BALL WITHIN AREA OF GOLF COURSE:
Option 1: Place the ball two club lengths from where the ball lies or point of entry, no closer to the hole. (ADD 1 SHOT)
Option 2: Keep the point of entry between yourself and the flag and place the ball on this line, no closer to the hole, back as far as desired. (ADD 1 SHOT)
Option 3: Keep yourself between the point of entry and your last shot and place the ball on this line, no closer to the hole, back as far as desired. (ADD 1 SHOT)
Point of Entry: The last point where the ball crossed playable golf course before becoming unplayable, lost, or out of bounds. If disagreement occurs, players may agree on a reasonable compromise.
Drop: In all drop situations involving a penalty stroke, the ball may be placed no closer to the hole and at least two club lengths from any green.
Unplayable Lie: A player may declare a ball unplayable at any time and proceed under the 4-options rule.
5.7 In the event of a Rules dispute during a match, players may proceed with a provisional ball. The Rules Committee will make a final ruling.
5.8 Scorecard Submission: The tee time group for each league night is responsible for submitting the scorecard to the Pro Shop upon completion of the 9 holes scored on. Each scorecard must clearly identify each golfer by first initial, last name, tees played, and total score. Illegible or incomplete scorecards may result in scores not being counted and ineligibility for prizes.
13. Conduct and Etiquette
13.1 Players must demonstrate respect, sportsmanship, and professionalism.
13.2 Abuse of staff, participants, or property may result in disciplinary action, including removal without refund.
14. Weather Policy
14.1 League play may be suspended or cancelled in the event of inclement weather.
14.2 If fewer than nine (9) holes are completed, the round may be cancelled or rescheduled.
14.3 All decisions shall be made by the League Coordinator.
15. Dispute Resolution
15.1 The Rules Committee shall consist of all golf professionals employed at The Links of Gleneagles.
15.2 The Rules Committee may establish or interpret rules at any time, including matters affecting scoring, standings, and rulings.
15.3 The Committee may consult any relevant parties or witnesses.
15.4 The League Coordinators reserve the right to remove any participant for misconduct or rules violations without refund.
15.5 All decisions rendered by the Rules Committee or League Coordinators are final.
16. Prizing
16.1 There will be prizes awarded each night for a variety of accomplishments. Every week there will be a blog post on our website that will update the league participants on prize winners for the most recent league night.
16.2 Prizes may not be exchanged unless the reward is clothing that we do not have your size in. All returns must be done through your appropriate league coordinator only.
16.3 DEUCE POTS. Each week there will be an optional 5 dollar fee that will all go into a pot. If you pay into said pot and you score a 2 on any hole of your men’s night scoring 9 for that night - you will split this pot with any other participant that scored a 2. The pot will be paid out in the form of a gift card for merchandise only.
16.4 CLAIMING A PRIZE. You are responsible for claiming both prizes and/or deuce pots within 14 days of the weekly blog post being issued.
16. Amendments
16.1 The League Coordinator reserves the right to amend these rules at any time.
16.2 All amendments shall be communicated to participants in a timely manner.
